Care Purchasers
Purchasing care can be expensive, and with various options to choose from, selecting the best can be difficult. You may want to make decisions due to a dementia diagnosis, changes in health, or need to make an emergency decision due to an unexpected or challenging event. VI can guide you through the process to help you understand what is needed and what options are available.
The price will be agreed as part of the contract, dependent on the complexity and work involved.
Travel and any other expenses will be charged as agreed and documented in the contract.

Example One
Support when meeting with a care provider:
- Agree on the points to raise during the meeting.
- Attend the review meeting.
- Ensure the person receiving care and others have a voice, with time to share their point of view.
- Ensure agreed points are addressed with a satisfactory outcome.
- Agree on the next steps.
Example Two
Dementia assessment:
- A face-to-face meeting to assess the person living with dementia, to gain an understanding of their abilities, views and wishes, and how dementia is affecting daily living.
- Discuss the views and wishes of others close to the person with dementia.
- Provide recommendations, based on assessment findings, to assist carers and aid in the search and selection of care services.

People using care services and those supporting them should be able to live well; however, changes and challenging situations can sometimes lead to stress and ill health. This is why Virginia has a specific interest in supporting holistically, so everyone is considered as part of ensuring care services are of good quality.
Virginia can offer bespoke support to help people during difficult times and situations, and learn from the experience.
Examples of support include:
- Leadership and Management (interim)
- Care management (assessment and planning)
- Compliance & Quality (adherence to regulations)
- Audit & Assessment (mock inspections)
- Strategy and Planning (quality initiatives)
- Training (bespoke)
- Personal Development (supervision, mentoring)

Example Three
Independent Care Planning:
- A face-to-face meeting to assess the person, to gain an understanding of their abilities, views and wishes, and how health is affecting daily living.
- Discussion and review of relevant information, including views of others if required.
- Provide recommendations, based on assessment findings, to assist carers and care services.
- Provide a written care assessment.
- Provide a written personal care plan.
- Use the provider's electronic care planning software as required.
Example Four
CQC report 'Requires Improvement':
- An initial meeting to discuss the CQC report, the service and the current situation.
- Assessment of the service with recommendations and advice on improvement actions related to the CQC findings.
- Advice and support to develop a quality improvement action plan.
- A written record of the visit and support provided.
